SLAM FestivalOn Saturday 11 February the biggest beach volleyball festival in the southern hemisphere hits the white sands of Glenelg beach in Adelaide. The SLAM Festival combines the fun and action of an amateur and elite volleyball competition with rocking tunes and a party atmosphere that continues until just before sunset.

One of South Australia’s best bands, The Shiny Brights, are playing, as well as well-known dj talent like Chris C, The Proj3cts DJs, DJ Slim Charles, DJ Japeye and DJ Leah Mencel. Some will be playing volleyball too!

SLAM FestivalThe volleyball competition runs from noon until 5.30pm, and then the music festival runs through until 8pm. You can attend the SLAM Festival as a spectator, but if your friends love beach volleyball, or would just love a day of fitness-boosting fun under the sun, you can really get amongst it by registering a team of six. If your team’s uniform is judged the most inventive your team could receive some extra goodies for your effort.

SLAM FestivalSLAM have been running great beach volleyball events at some of Australia’s best beaches for over ten years. Founder Andrew Lemon say that SLAM was about bringing his four loves – summer at the beach, music, sport and socialising – together in one event.

“Over the years, the music element has grown – mainly because that’s what punters want,” he said, “and teams look forward to the party that follows the tournament during the day.”

SLAM is committed to nurturing beach volleyball as well as to discovering and supporting the best and brightest emerging DJ and Aussie band talent around the country. SLAM offers a fun social event for people of every skill level. Anyone can enter a team and play. And for those who don’t want to get into competition, the festival’s a visual delight as fit guys and girls in boardies and bikinis give it all on the courts.
