Listed by US news network CNN as one of their top 12 must-see exhibitions, The Art of the Brick is now in Adelaide, opening on Monday 9th April (Easter Monday). In a world-first, New York-based artist Nathan Sawaya uses LEGO® bricks as the sole art medium for this critically acclaimed exhibition which features primarily 3-dimensional sculptures and oversized portraits.
The creations, constructed from nearly one million pieces, were built from standard bricks beginning as early as 2002.
For kids, The Art of the Brick includes Play & Build sessions; a hands on, fun and creative place to visit after experiencing Nathan’s fine art sculptures. The 45 minute sessions are family friendly and for kids from 4 years of age all the way up to “big kids”.

Matt Doran is one of the special guests at this weekend’s Australian debut of Oz Comic-Con in Adelaide. To sci-fi fans he’s best known for his roles as Mouse in The Matrix and Elan Sleazebaggano in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones. He spoke to Mark Gamtcheff.
Although Matt Doran doesn’t think of himself as a conventions expert, having done only a few comic and science fiction “con” appearances, when I spoke to him he told me he’s excited about his visit to Adelaide for the first Oz Comic-Con.
“I really enjoy conventions,” he told me. “It’s a great way to meet people who are into the films. I thought I was into films, but some of these people are right into it, and the costumes some make for themselves… you see how much detail and effort’s gone into them.”
Mark Gamtcheff spoke to Gigi Edgley last week about her upcoming visit to Adelaide for the inaugural Oz Comic-Con, March 31 and April 1.
